Since its beginning in 2008, Thanda has provided daily after-school support to orphans of AIDS and vulnerable children in local schools throughout the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.  These children all live in poor, rural communities where 39% of pregnant women are HIV positive and 27% of children are orphaned.  The children of Thanda receive a meal and engage in after-school activities, during which they complete homework, play sports, learn academics, develop skills, and receive personal guidance.  The grant of $10,000 from the AllPeopleBeHappy foundation provides daily meals to 50 children, and art and computer programs in grades 8-11 after school.  (www.thanda.org)
